I know we are not supposed to think the games are fixed but the Pats have gotten a fair amount of help lately...

classicman 12-28-2017 02:35 PM

Did you say "fair" :eyebrow:

Griff 12-28-2017 02:39 PM

Mmmmm... bad word choice, I'll have to commiserate with a literate Bills fan.

Gravdigr 12-28-2017 03:11 PM

...a literate Bills fan...Pfft.

:p:

You need games like that to work things out. Once the left side of the O-line is worked out, and Nick gets some tape time to understand what Alshon Jeffery does, the Eagles will win the Super Bowl.

One can hope. Nick had plenty of open receivers. He consistently made the wrong decision as to who and more importantly when to throw the ball. I'll be watching those two factors the most this week. Also, with the 13 personnel & overloaded formation the Raiders employed, our D now has something new to deal with also.

Sporstscaster Keith Jackson died on the twelfth of January.

I could not find a cause of death, but Keith Jackson was 89.

Time to step back and evaluate what you do for fun.

Quote:

Too many of us are beholden to social-media expectations, the subjective scoring of action sports, and a desire to push increasingly out-there limits. Mountain bikers who once explored the woods to simply blow out the lungs now time their descents with Strava. Climbers who used to clip in and coach partners on big walls now free solo for sponsor dollars driven by Instagram. To impress followers, backcountry skiers accustomed to safe low-angle hippie pow followed by hibachi beers now yo-yo laps on the Grand Fucking Teton.

Increasingly, what we do outside is less about enjoying the activity itself as an intrinsic good, and more about planning ways to go bigger, faster, and farther, often for our selfie-stick mounted cameras. And so it went that once healthy outdoor pursuits devolved into suicide clubs.

Griff 01-28-2018 10:48 AM

That needed to be said. Mountain Biking is an absolute blast but in the downhill places you have non-athletes taking highly athletic risks.

Happy Birthday Papa Bear!!

George S. Halas, founder/owner/coach of the Chicago Bears, would have been 123 years old today.

Quote:

Halas (coaching record--> 318 wins, 148 losses, 31 ties), a pioneer both on and off the field, made the Bears the first team to hold daily practice sessions, to analyze film of opponents to find weaknesses and means of attack, place assistant coaches in the press box during games, place tarp on the field, publish a club newspaper, and to broadcast games by radio. He also offered to share the team's substantial television income with teams in smaller cities, firmly believing that what was good for the league would ultimately benefit his own team. A firm disciplinarian, Halas maintained complete control of his team and did not tolerate disobedience and insubordination by players. He also insisted on absolute integrity and honesty in management, believing that a handshake was sufficient to finalize a deal; few, if any, intermediaries were necessary.

Halas's career ledger reads as follows: 63 years as an owner, 40 as a coach, 324 wins, and 8 NFL titles as a coach or owner. His 324 victories stood as an NFL record for nearly three decades, and are still far and away the most in Bears history; they are three times that of runner-up Ditka.[20] He was a charter member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963.
~from Wiki

The NFC champions are presented the George S. Halas Trophy each year, and, to this day, the Bears still wear GSH on their jerseys. When Halas died, in 1983 at the age of 88, he was the last surviving participant of the meeting that formed the NFL in 1920.

Tom Benson, owner of the New Orleans Saints, and New Orleans Pelicans, died yesterday (Mar 15), at the ripe old age of 90 years.

He opened the window, and influenza.

Jim Kelly shares Easter message, walks for first time after surgery

Griff 04-02-2018 04:02 PM

The grace with which he's handled this is far more impressive than anything he did on the football field.

Gravdigr 04-02-2018 04:08 PM

Yes sir.

Griff 04-12-2018 06:52 AM

Fight night at Fenway.
