Went looking for a place to donate old bed sheets and found these guys. Kind of a cool idea.

Many health facilities have no access to clean, affordable bandages, an item they use every day as they care for patients.
They're a Jesus-y organization, so obviously that's not going to be everybody's thing. But I figure, it's not like Tammy Faye Bakker is reselling rolled bandages on ebay for a profit. Worst-case scenario, they get more than they need and toss the extras in the garbage, which is what I'm going to do if I can't find a place that wants them, so I might as well take a few minutes and ship them off.

I was excited until they got to "white only" (not in a trump way). White bed linen is verboten here. bright colors only

Yeah, no whites. :(

Same thing. I afforded myself for christmas some nice new sheets. They're glorious, but my old sets of sheets are colored! The color guard is colored! O brother quote.

how many sets of old sheets do you have?

Clodfobble 01-08-2017 02:11 AM

Ours are technically "cream," I wonder if that counts.

I had a housemate when I was younger who was a manager or something or other in the hotel industry. He said the hotel routinely retired sheets for tiny stains. He'd get them for friends making banners at sports games, he gave me a bunch for making photo backdrops. I'm surprised that they don't automatically go to bandages.

Would you put a retired hotel sheet on an open wound?:eyebrow:

If I lived in Africa where the only other option was rub some dirt on it and bleed to death? Yeah, probably. These things aren't going doctors with borders...

Those sheets got seriously washed, this was a real hotel chain, not a motel 6. Crazy hot water, powerful chemicals, scary stuff. They'd change out their sheets frequently anyway because no one wants to sleep on work out sheets.

So yeah, one of those sheets if it was autoclaved and I had some triple antibiotic.

Remind me not to come to you guys for first aid.

Save that sheet to drape over my dead body.

Hopefully, I will have died of ball rot from loving an unclean woman.
