Sept 7, 2017: Fat Cats
Not the kind on Wall Street, the Fat Felines of artist Fernando Botoro.
http://cellar.org/2017/fat1.jpg Born in 1932 and raised in Medellin, Columbia (you may of heard of the place), but in 1948 moved to Spain, then Paris, then Italy, to study and work. In 1958 he won his first major award, first place at Salon de Artistas Columbianos. http://cellar.org/2017/fat2.jpg His sculptures are mostly cats, his paintings are mostly cats, families, and NSFW women. All of them fat and most all with cats. http://cellar.org/2017/fat3.jpg link |
Are the three sitting cats in Barcelona, Yerevan and Singapore the same casting do you suppose or just very similar?
I am not sure if I have ever seen a tom with his balls visible from the front. The link has a lot of pieces that inspire thought. I am especially intrigued the one that seems to be in a brothel, perhaps in the morning, with Gomez either dead or dead drunk on the floor. (There is another one where he is simply recumbent.) Bananas and baguettes are another repeated theme. Botero is an IOTD kind of fellow. |
I'm not sure but I think that's a bell on fat cat's collar, but it did remind of the shiny from rubbing balls on the bull in NY.

check the painting of the cat walking on the roof

Pic from the link:
Attachment 61742 The artist. For just a second I thought that was Peter Criss, original drummer for KISS. His character was The Cat Man. |
I think I saw one of Botoro's cats on last night's 60 Minutes piece on the other, just as weird, Koch brother.
Speaking of which, the "disguised" FBI dude was also just about as weird as they come. |
Yep, I found other refs. BTW, it is Botero.
