1/31: Space junk map

These maps of the locations of various items in space are not to scale.

But it's interesting to know that someone is keeping track of at least some of the stuff we've left out there.

Because they do make for a serious collision problem for spacecraft that expect to find nothing but vacuum in their way.

And all that stuff is in slightly different orbits. Here's a screenshot from th etool I use to track satellites I can talk to from my ham radio station:

And you're a repeat wanker, but I haven't been picking on you about it lately. I knew how to resize images when you were still wearing diapers, dear. About 800 pels across as I intended, this is the *images* forum, you know.

Looks good on my screen, sorry to hear about yours; maybe it has too many animated smilies on it. Now I know why you've been telling us you see "Fisher-Price My First PC" in your server logs....check the IP address, it's probably yours. :-)

Looks too small at work (probably all the work-related crap clogging up the screen ;) ), but should look really good on my new 1280 x 1024 APPLE 17" STUDIO DISPLAY!

jaguar 02-01-2002 04:04 PM

Wide enough to completely stuff the width of the thread, its happened a few times, i'm quite sure you're capable of doing it, you're just too frigging lazy. It stuffs the width here at 1024, which is pretty damn stupid. I know its an images forum, and shock horror, you're the only person i've noticed who posts pics without bothering to resize them, being the time consuming operationit is and all.

The thing with the arrows at the bottom of the window is a scroll bar. Use it.

Every image I've posted here from this machine (as opposed to URLs from another server) has been resized....even the screen shot you're whining about (although not much). The app writes an 880x470 window (along with another text window of tabular data.) I shrank it slightly after grabbing it with The GIMP, but not much because I wanted the text on it to be legible.

Yuore conserm abuot txet legebility iz legnedary, fo coruse.

Maybe you need a new video card. What resolution are you running, that this is such a big deal?

jaguar 02-01-2002 06:45 PM

1024x768, as i said. GF2GTS64Mb on a Sony E220....try reading.
The point is that i *shouldn't* have to scroll horizonatally, its bloody annoying. Ever been to fark? They delete images that screw the layout of the forums, there is a good reason for that.

Torrere 02-01-2002 08:26 PM

Yes, it is very annoying to have to scroll horizontally.

Hm. *Grin* I'm running at 800x600 resolution. When I installed Win2k, it gave me a default resolution of 800x600, and when I changed it back to my normal 1024x768 the tiny little text hurt my eyes. So I left it at 800x600 =]

jaguar 02-01-2002 09:07 PM

Torrere? You on a 15in or something?
Graphics stuff, switch from 1024x768@100hz to 1600*1200@72 gaaaak! Painful.

edit- 1600*1200 instad of the other way round.

How nice. If you can't deal with an 800 pel image on a 1024 display, allow me to suggest that you go fark yourself. :-) Sorry I failed to recognize that "It stuffs the width here at 1024" means "my display is1024 wide". I thought you meant it made one of the page elements 1024 wide. I *am* reading; you might try try writing. No, on second thought, don't.

I'm not going to compromise the image quality further just so you don't have to scroll. Try using your non-wanking hand on the mouse when scrolling, just to balance out the RMI..

Further, on my browsers, the only table cell affected by the width of the image I posted is the one the image is in. If you want to see the image, scroll. If not, don't.
Either way, "stuffing the width" is exactly what you should do.

I run an ICQ bar down the side of the screen.
Apart from that, i'm nto going to respond to uncalled for, petty insults.

In other news, i'm outa here anyway, schoolwork this year is crazy, and i don't have time to burn on cellar anymore, ill stop by every now and then, a bit like syc, but I won't be regualry posting.
