Guitar Building
I'm in the process of building a guitar, though I'm still in the planning stage. I've drawn up a life-sized template for a possible design, based closely on this bass:
http://www.edromanguitars.com/guitar...ges/alem16.jpg I prettymuch used that exactly, except that I rounded the cutaways a lot more, and used my Ibanez RG for the size. My design needs to be equally suitable for Metal, Glam, Punk, whatever I feel like playing. Other designs I'm considering adapting: http://www.edromanguitars.com/avail/...butetall02.jpghttp://www.edromanguitars.com/featur..._PSSN2_350.jpg http://www.edromanguitars.com/featur.../flyte_550.jpg http://www.edromanguitars.com/featur...n_dark_550.jpg http://www.edromanguitars.com/guitar...lcrook_550.jpg |
Very nice, I can't wait to see it... please keep us posted.

Yes, take some pictures as you go and make a list of materials. Looking forward to it. :thumb2:

As a fellow guitarist, I'm curious...what are you shooting for with the extreme body shapes? And how do such artistic visual statements bear upon the eventual playability/sound quality of the final instrument?
|
Does the body shape make any sound difference at all for an electric?
|
I'm not so sure it can do, but what's wrong with some alternative shapes - I quite like the Gothic (maybe that should say Gotham) style of the majority of the designs.
|
The more wood, the more sustain, but its mostly aesthetic.
