She's Back, Fighting Evil.
Mother appeals Potter Decision
The Associated Press - LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. A woman who asked the Gwinnett County school board to ban Harry Potter books is taking her case to the state. Laura Mallory of Loganville, Ga., is appealing to the Georgia Board of Education a May 11 decision by the county board to keep the best sellers on school library shelves. Mallory, a former missionary, filed her complaint in September, claiming that the books promote "evil themes, witchcraft, demonic activity, murder, evil blood sacrifice, spells and teaching children all of this." A panel of parents, teachers and community members at J.C. Magill Elementary, where her three children attend school, voted down the complaint. Gee whiz. Isn't the Bible full of that stuff too? |
God forbid children use their imaginations and actually read something they enjoy.
Thankfully, they've banned Captain Underpants, which I'm sure was a danger to children everywhere. These people need to put their energy into something useful instead of limiting materials that actually do kids some good. |

"Mad Genius"????
I watched that animation, H. Monkey. All I could understand was "Potter Potter Potter Potter." The rest was unintelligible. Was there any kind of "point" trying to be made in that thing, or was it just an animation for animations' sake? Maybe I was expecting too much.

It's quite the clever parody, actually.
Congrats on your 100. |

I think you may need to research badgers, mushrooms, snakes, and Harry Potter. Oh, and if you let the animation run through a couple times, you get a treat. |
Snape, etc.
I must say that I never really caught the HP "fever," but I once dated a single mom whose son ate those books up like there was no tomorrow. He never read anything before except for Pokie Man cards. HP turned him into a reader; a reader of HP, at least. The historical (hysterical) myopia of people like that GA woman astounds me.

My sister-in-law is a similar flavor of idiot. She wants her kids to be as stupid as she is.
