Chores
What chores do you give your kids to do?
You know. The ones we always pawn off because we are too lazy to do them. We secretly viel them in the mysterious "I'm doing this for your own good so you grow up to be responsible" face we wear while giving it to them. What is it ? Mine is unloading the dishwasher. I can load it fine. |
Lil' Pete is in charge of all things chicken related, feed get eggs lockem up let em out. Lil' Griff handles the dog chores. They're still smallish for water hauling for goats but I'm hoping to shed that job as well.

Heh...mine don't have nearly enough chores. I keep making lists and organizing them and the plans always collapse after a week or two.
But in general, not counting my super-house-cleaning-plans, my spouse takes out the trash and feeds the cat, my oldest son watches the baby when I need to make a store run, my 10 yr old vacuums and the two of them unload the dishwasher (he does dishes, she does silverware). We just moved and now have a yard, so my spouse is responsible for mowing as well. Somehow I end up doing the rest of the house work, laundry, cooking, shopping, plus work 5-6 hours from my home office, and take care of a 1 yr old. <wipes the sweat from her brow> Stormie |

The inch is my mortar tender.
Being only two and a half doesn't excuse him from a share of the labor around here. We actually involve him in a lot of what we do around the house. He helps unload the dishwasher, mix eggs, helps me make the pizza dough on bachelor night, spreads the sauce, weeds the garden, (he can tell the difference between "good plants" and "bad plants" as we call them) He is invloved in folding and unfolding the laundry. Sometimes his actual help, as measured in goal achievement, is questionable at best. But at this point it is about the journey, as they say. Since he was little we've included him in what we do around the house to the degree that he was able to particitpate and sustain interest. The latter invloved a bit of imagination on our part to make it fun or magic as SWMBO says. But his only chore, per se, is feeding and watering the cats. He is able to do that if we open the cat food bin for him. |
That is one cute inch!

a-HA! it has been ADMITTED! I like, don't do any chores now, because we have a maid (thank you, cheap asian labor costs!), but I usually do the usual... dishwasher, takin' the dog out, some cleaning, all that jazz. |

Oh, the maid stays outta my room and my bathroom, as much because it's "freeeezing" in here as because my mother said it's my job.
It's not like I actually clean it, though. |
Good helper there f3!

My 3.5 yo daughter is the 'taker' and the 'giver' (her names). She takes the plates from the table and gives them to me at the sink where I load the dishwasher. Once it's run, she does the silverware, now that she is tall enough to see in the drawer. She actually gets mad at me if I do it. As for laundry, she makes all of the washrags into perfect squares, and matches socks. Oh, and if I am wiping up the floor, she had to have a wet rag to wipe too, or I get an earfull. I am counting down the time it takes till I have to pay her to do these things ;)
