Disappointing Hotel Experience in Mexico City

I was so disappointed with a hotel in Mexico City when I vacationed there together with my college friends. Before we left the country, we made sure that we had a reservation to that hotel. We even verified our reservation so that we can be assured of a comfortable room to stay in while vacationing. However, everything went wrong when we arrived in the hotel reception area because the room that we expected to occupy was given to a popular politician who came late.

Out of frustration, I really talked to the manager who kept on asking for an apology, saying that the hotel receptionist committed mistakes. Well, I accepted his apology, but I demanded him to look for a comfortable room where the rest of us could stay. I told him that we did not expect this kind of treatment from their hotel since we had our reservation one month before we arrived. See, I was very pissed that time because we did not expect it to happen. Because I was really angry, I told the hotel manager directly that we would never make a reservation in his hotel because it’s very disappointing. Every time I remember that disappointing experience, my blood pressure really goes up.

Honey, IT'S MEXICO. * If you do not arrive with a bodyguard, you have to take what you get. Do not mistake the tourist guidebooks for reality. Consider yourself lucky that you were not robbed 2 times before you got from the curb to the front desk and just go with it. Americans who refuse to accept that they have gone outside the comfort zone definitely do not belong in my México lindo y querido ;)

Remember "It's Chinatown"?

I thought this was gonna be the ol' How many sheets do you want on your bed? joke.

Lady, you sheets on my bed, I kill you.

Thanks Serpent and Els, you made up for what was shaping up to be a pointless post.

Rants are never pointless, just sometimes there is no way to logically respond....only empathize. :D

footfootfoot 08-18-2006 09:16 PM

yeah, pointless was a poor word choice. Not pointless. Um what's the word?

I just joined a timeshare BBS and I am hearing a lot of complaints about downgrading of rooms at a certain Mexican timeshare group. People make reservations at the deluxe resort but when they arrive are given rooms in the cheaper one.

It's sort of like booking into a 4 star Hilton and being bumped to a 3 star Hampton Inn.

Are they trying to collect the 4 star price after redirecting them to the 3 star facility, Rich? :borg:
