Texas Governor

Who will you vote for? Why
Chris Bell-D, Rick Perry-R, Carol Keetan Strayhorn-I, Kenky Friedman-I

Me? I think (if I get a chance to vote) that I will go for Chris Bell, I'm a college student and since Perry has been in office the tution in Texas has dramtically increased, although I don't blame him specifically for this (our governor is one of the weakest in the country) I think that I would prefer a governor with the goal to lessen college costs. Also Bell has a desire to re-do the public education system which the current admin has not been able to do, we have a 40% drop out rate. It barely meets minimum reqs of the constitution. Although I don't entirely agree with his goals on immigration, one of them is to make gaining citizenship easier and learning English a req. Perry's policies only focus on stopping those trying to cross into America. Well thats my position...

He isn't a "politically correct" career politician.

It was Strayhorn who didn't know the Mexican President.

Just his name is enough to get my vote, if I had one.

Clodfobble 10-12-2006 02:37 PM

Kinky!! I really don't know which one I hate more, Strayhorn or Perry...

warch 10-12-2006 03:20 PM

Even our nutty Jessie is distancing himself from Kinky.

Flint 10-12-2006 03:28 PM

Kinky has the same team working for him that got "nutty Jessie" elected to begin with.

Possibly at Kinky's request, since there are bound to be comparisons and everyone knows Ventura flopped once he actually got in office.

If you like his whole platform then you either didn't really pay that much attention to it or you are extremely gullible.

A career politician? our governor makes $115,345 a year. Every canidate probably can and does make more per year in their other profession. You have a career to make money. These canidates don't need the governance to make money...they already have it. Maybe he should try and be a bit more "politically correct" I don't like him blatantly smoking...our governor may not have much power but he is still a role model...and our school children are likely to see images of him, smoking. Also if he is sooo against lobbyists, why is he supporting one of the most dominate lobbyist group in the country? tobacco companies.
FYI: Our legislators only make $7,200 a year...no I did not forget a zero.

You're right on that...I'm sorry. She's a mess isn't she?

Flint 10-12-2006 07:51 PM

Okay, it's because I'm extremely gullible.

You're kidding, right? The Gov smoking cigars would harm the children? He's lobbying for tobacco companies? Good grief.

I said he was supporting them. Do you think he will support an increased tax on tobacco? And yes you should watch your image when you are a public figure....and although it might not "harm" children, it certainly won't send them a good message.

xoxoxoBruce 10-12-2006 09:53 PM

Do you think the Gov pays for his cigars? They come with the state humidor, don't they. That would be part of the non-taxable income.

You're absolutely right. Watching their public image is crucial, because the majority of the voters are more worried about image and political correctness than what kind of job their actually doing.

They can tell you how he dresses, how good his table manners are and whether or not he smokes. Just don't ask them where he stands on issues or how he voted on the bills that control their very lives.

Elect scum.....but handsome, well dressed, well mannered scum......for the children. :right:

I've long maintained that Rick Perry's greatest achievement is his hair.

........................... :::Texas drawl::: Now that's the hair of a Gov'nr.
