The Sycamore Alert System
 

You've read about the new government alert system? Great idea? Well, I thought so...and then I thought, "What if we adapted it to individuals?"

And so, I have developed the Sycamore Alert System. The SAS will provide you with a gauge of Sycamore's mood, should you choose to engage him in conversation or debate. The SAS is not only inspired by our fine friends at the United States of America, Inc., but also by the mood wheel inside the CD case of David Byrne's Feelings CD.

Red means that Sycamore is hopping mad. Really pissed to no end. An example of this would be what happened to Rho on Friday at the hospital.

Purple means that Sycamore is a bit agitated and highly irritable. This could be due to a lack of sleep, a bad day at work, etc. Sycamore may be more cynical than normal during this time.

Blue means that Sycamore is mellow, indifferent, possibly sad. This is a natural part of Sycamore's mood cycle that occurs from time to time.

Teal means that Sycamore is in generally good spirits, although he may be a bit tired and loopy, and possibly a bit irritable. Nothing a good meal or sleep can't fix.

Green is an optimal time for Sycamore. He feels relaxed, refreshed, and ready to take on the world.

And, to borrow from the article from Time: "It will start at least one level more hazardous than green in an effort to give the public hope of better days to come."

Today's Sycamore Alert status is teal.

"Long and fucking hard" would be the best way to describe the work to find, re-format and post that.

Sounds like the current status is Green?

Unfortunately, we're at purple today. Rho had to go to the hospital again (third time in the past week)...and yet another hospital fuckup occurred. Rho is in very poor spirits, so I'm going to stay at home tomorrow and go with her to dialysis. Idiots. Incompetence. And I'm starting to suspect malpractice.

(NOTE: Correction made to the second sentence. Its original construction made it misleading...I was pretty pissed last night.)

What kind of stupidity are they embracing?

They have transcended common stupidity. I don't think I could aspire to it.

I'll discuss it further in a sputtering later today.
