I'm a fraud...
...and my foundation is so skewed that my trackball woke up my PC just because I walked in the backdoor. This is highly symbolic.
|
Tough night?
|
Now that's what I call convenient!
Does it log you on to the Cellar, too? |
I understand the concern over the intuitivity of your PC, but in what way does that make you a fraud?

It doesn't. He said it's symbolic. He walked in the back door but his computer woke up, as if it were telling him, "I know your secret, I can always see you coming. You've been out spreading your fraudulent ideology again and you thought you could sneak back into your comfort zone through the back door as if nothing ever happened; but just know, I'm on to you. Thusly I quietly mock you with the unspoken knowledge that someone has detected you, you've been found out, and I could expose you at any point if I so chose. Sleep tight, Dave..."

Dave?:eyebrow: Family member or friend?
(Or did you quote that off Dave Barry?) |
Dave, HAL, 2001...
|
It was a reference to the movie "2001," in which a computer went nuts and started killing people. The computer's operator, named Dave, was eventually trying to "kill" the computer to stop its rampage. Hearing the computer's ominous and eerily calm voice becomes a familiar and dreaded sign that it knows what Dave is up to. "Good morning, Dave." "I know what you're trying to do, Dave." "You're acting strangely, Dave. Is something troubling you?" And so forth.
So I thought it was appropriate here. |
Flint, I was writing my post while you replied. I'm really glad to know someone got the reference before I explained it. Good job :)

A friend of mine once replaced all of their Windows event sounds with HAL .wavs,
IE "this type of thing has happened before, and it's always been attributed to human error" |
I did that as well. I still have them all on cd somewhere.
|
Anyway, in this case I think the cause was actually a faulty foundation, as in the foundation of my house, which is symbolic of my faulty foundation as a person. Then, yes, once my PC woke up it did mock me a little.
And, no, Griff, I had a great night, not a tough night, but through no great effort on my part, hence my fraudulent status, and excessive use of commas. |
Me too... I can't spell and pretend I can by always using iSpell.
I'm so ashamed! Fact is... I think Flint is awesome. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...mbs/Gassho.jpg |
The latest Firefox has spell checking built-in, so I always look nice and smart.
