IT Job!

Hi, Folks!

Remember that IT manager I was dating? Well, I'm marrying him on June 8th. :-D

Anyway, he has a job opening in his department and he's not happy with the resumes he's getting. As he *really* needs to hire a qualified person quickly and some of the finest people in computer science reside in The Cellar, I asked him if I could post the job here. He JUMPED at the chance, so here is how he describes the job:

We are looking for a programmer with some of the following skills:
MS SQL
MS Access
Visual Basic
Crystal Reports
Lotus Notes

This is a full time position in a small IT shop located in Exton. The work is varied – we try to have fun.

Send resume/interest to Frank Desimone at FDesimone@Kidde-Fire.com

Reply to HIM, not me -- the community garden opened and I am swamped (intentional pun!) with plant stuff that I have to get done!

Asking the finest people in CS to drive Access and Crystal Reports is kinda like asking Jeff Gordon to spend his time in a Ford Escort. If he's not getting resumes he likes in *this* job environment, chances are he's asking for the wrong things?

Not that I'll ever complain about job postings on the Cellar!

Shhhhhh....don't tell her that. I don't need the competition. And after a year of unemployment, I'm not in a position to be snooty about the software at work.

Hey, if Ford were to provide the right incentive ($$$), I'm sure Jeff Gordon would spend time in an Escort. Or an Aspire, for that matter.

(I'm unhappy enough about having a 'Doze box on my desk instead of a proper Unix system, but at least I've got Cygwin and emacs. And the DB is Oracle)

I take it all back.

Amen brotha. I currently have a Win2K box, 500MHz here at work. I'd kill to have a PowerMac with OSX or a Linux box here instead. Probably PowerMac, since I need to do Word shit. But man... I'm just more productive in UNIX, period.

Hey, you know, that's actually an interesting idea... having a bunch of Ford Escorts and Toyota Corrolas and Honda Civics having a race. It might be kinda fun to watch. Course it'd be rather slower than the current NASCAR stuff.

suddenly the 4 hour Daytona 500 turns into a week-long event. Though I'm sure pit-stops would be approaching 0... hmmm trade the hen for the rooster, eh?

Aint you guys seen Speedvision? Its channel 69 for those of us with suburban cable or comcast or whatever it is now.

Yeah, they race subaru's and suped up honda's and stuff. Its pretty sweet. Alright, sure, they arent regular factory-standard, but its cool.

I would wanna watch a Geo Metro and a Daewoo go at it. Head to head dragracing. 0 to sixty eventually. :)
