Car Bomb Busted In Iraq

Car Bomb Busted In Iraq

"Iraqi civilians are aiding in the fight against radical insurgents:

"A vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) was safely neutralized after being reported to local Iraqi police hours after a separate VBIED struck a police station in Iraq’s northern city of Kirkuk, Jan. 17.

A bystander notified police after witnessing a suspicious driver abandoning a parked car. Iraqi police investigated the scene and notified coalition forces from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, operating in Kirkuk. An explosive ordnance team was sent to the site and conducted a controlled detonation with no casualties.

Local tips have prevented at least two VBIED attacks within the past three days.

“Civic action is a key to preventing the violence,” said Maj. Patrick Campbell, civil affairs officer, 3rd IBCT, 25th ID. “The citizens are beginning to realize they have a role in security and are also demonstrating an increasing level of trust in the police.”

(AFP) How come we don't see the heroism among civilian Iraqis reported in the mainstream American media?? And why do democrats wish to throw the Iraqi people to Iranian Islamist wolves??

And then we return to reality and its so ominous parallel in history. From the Washington Post of 21 Jan 2007 is this open attack on a secure American facility in Karbala:
Quote:

Disguises Used in Attack on Troops
The men then stormed into a room where Americans and Iraqis were making plans to ensure the safety of thousands of people expected to visit the holy city for an upcoming holiday.

"They didn't target anyone but the American soldiers," the governor's aide said.

After the attack, the assailants returned to their vehicles and drove away. It was unclear how many people participated, and the men's identities and motive remained unclear, but the attack was particularly striking because of the resources and sophistication involved, Iraqi officials said.

The men drove off toward the city of Babil, north of Karbala, where they shot at guards at a checkpoint, said Capt. Muthana Ahmad, a police spokesman. Vehicles later recovered contained three bodies and one injured individual. The U.S. military took possession of the vehicles, the spokesman said.
Sappers in 1968 Vietnam routinely began to be this brazen. Simultaneously, the Wise Men reported that the Vietnam War as conducted could not be won. Iraq Study Group concluded same about Iraq but over a month ago. Deja vue.

Meanwhile many generals from Vietnam about that time were starting to say the war could not be won. In Iraq, the generals where repeatedly telling the administration even in 2003 that the war was being lost. That is a difference. Generals from "Mission Accomplished" have been more honest when compared to Generals of 1967 Vietnam.

What the hell does that have to do with anything - especially my prior post? I said some not everything is peachy keen! Is there some point to that post or are you just now telling us that we are at war and poeple are being killed. If thats the case, I think most of us knew that. If you are trying to point out that the attack targeted only Americans - even if it did - so what? We are their enemy. Its very convenient how you only quoted the part of the article you wanted us to read.

Car Bomb Busted In Iraq: Mission Accomplished

One at a time Flint - one at a time.

One step forward, two steps back?

yesman065 01-22-2007 09:27 PM

Ever forward - whatever it takes. Exactly what is the cost of freedom again?

Urbane Guerrilla 01-22-2007 10:14 PM

The cost of freedom is as high as the fucking fascists can drive it.

And tw haiyulps.

And god will decend from the heavens to save us all. Your post is that bizarre. Do you pretend Iraq is not in civil war by spinning an exception? American soldiers are attacked 2000 and 3500 times daily. Every day. Where did you mention relevant numbers?

Yesman065 - you posted a rare and silly exception. Reality - we created a civil war. We created the insurgency. We did this knowing full well that we were even violating principles from military science 101. Every retired general out of Iraq, Gen Jay Garner, and even Jerry Bremer reported even in 2003 that we were losing "Mission Accomplished". It has not changed. You would deny this reality?

How did insurgents know of that Karbala meeting to target only Americans? Because good things are happening? Only if god says so because reality says completely otherwise. If the lurker thinks its bad, guess what - its even worse as the next paragraph demonstrates. That Karbala attack completely contradicts Yesman065's own conclusion.

There is no maybe.

What city were those car bombs? Kirkuk. Did you realize the horrible significance of your citation? Did you read a previous discussion started by warch in Bush links Hezbollah to Ali-Q on 15 Aug 2006? Your own post suggests the worst is happening.

Ok so you did not know. And you did not know about 3000 daily attacks on American so as to post what George Jr alleges (lies). Expansion of an American created civil war into Kirkuk means things are even worse. Things so bad that insurgents even know when Americans have security meetings and know how to attack and kill Americans inside a secure base. Yesman065 - you posted, instead, that things are getting worse - and do not even know it. That is hurtful.

Your own citation defines an Iraq that is getting even worse – and you don’t even realize it. To be nice about this when you have again spun a George Jr type lie? You have even advocated death of more American soldiers. That is inexcusable. How dare you have so much contempt for the American soldier as to even misrepresent your own citation.

No decent American can be nice about this. 3000 attacks every day for how many years? You tell me. You know things are getting better. Show me without using George Jr spin and lies. Even your own post does not say as you conclude.

Congratulations, once again you've managed to address everything but the subject of the thread.
Do you get fan letters from these lurkers you're continually soliloquizing to?

Well, let's see... one minus two is: negative one. Is that the right answer? I'm not very good at Toby Keith lyrics.

Exactly what is the cost of freedom again?

Something that can't be paid by outsiders.

yesman065 01-23-2007 01:07 PM

I never agreed with your childish comment - "One step forward, two steps back?" So adding another with your math doesn't really help much either.
