Armchair Travelling

Im currently reading Shantaram for the second time - i freaking love that book. the way GD Roberts writes just makes my brain swim.

I love armchair travel books, taking an adventure and learing about countries whilst being entertained at the same time.

Lonely Planet Guides loose me in about 4 pages - but a true account/ non-fiction novel can have me fascinated about a culture/ country for weeks.

Has anyone any favourites?

I can definately reccomend SHANTARAM for anyone interested in india, a great story, or beautiful wrtiting.

The best books for arm-chair travelers are all of the books by Tim Cahill.

It would be awesome if it was this Tim Cahill, but unfortunately it's not.
