Leisure Suit Larry
Last night I was going through some of my old PC games. I found my copy of Leisure Suit Larry's Greatest Hits, but not the documentation that came with it.
After googling, all I could see is that there is supposed to be documentation on the CD itself (PDF format) but I'm not sure I even have a collection late enough for PDF. Anyway, I couldn't find it anywhere. Specifically, I can't play LSL 5 without the "AeroDork" City Codes, and there was another one that you have to enter the girl's phone number which corresponds to the girl's picture in the manual. I even emailed the address I found for Al Lowe, with no luck. I'm no pirater, therefore am not infringing on copyright. I remember buying the game from amazon but I think it was about 4 years ago after I moved into my apartment. I've moved twice since then, that doc is probably long gone. If someone here has those codes could you PM so I can play my games? I know this is a totally obscure question, but if you can't find help in the Cellar where can you find help? Thanks! :) |
www.gamefaqs.com
I don't know which of the 30 or so Leisure Suit Larry games you have, but many of them have codes included in the walkthroughs, including some that call themselves "phone numbers." |
Thanks. :)
Perusing all these sites earlier, they tell you that you have to have the game manual due to copyrights. There is a link to an Al Lowe site that no longer works. I may have found help with LSL2, will have to try it when I get home. So if anyone has the codes please still PM me. |
I don't think it's very nice to call them game fags.

I have a similiar problem with several disks of Infocom games. Right now this is kind of a moot point since
1) I don't have time to play any of these wonderful games. 2) I know the disks are around here somewhere. I am just not entirely sure of exactly where "somewhere" is. |
Al Lowe wrote back to me, and said if I looked around a bit on his website www.allowe.com, I would find the codes I needed. I did find them, and some other great stuff. I signed up for CyberJoke 3000.
I noticed he also had some postings on "The Number of the Beast" where I promptly grabbed one for that thread. It's nice to know we can still count on Leisure Suit Larry to not succumb to cold corporation apathy! :) |
So how well does it run? I remember trying to load an old DOS based game ("Life & Death") a couple years back, and found that it ran too fast to be playable. (I believe I bought it in 1988 or 89 ... the machine I ran it on had a monochrome display with a Hercules graphics adapter, for those who remember what that was, and I used a TSR utility to emulate the CGA graphics required by the game. Those were the days!! :compute: )

I can run LSL 1 through 7 (there actually was no 4) with no problems. The only problem I had was trying to figure out which file would actually start the game in the earlier versions, and where I was keeping saved games.
To think I played LSL1 back in the early 90's; it actually came out in 1987. Wow. |
How come no one is addressing the fact that Leisure Suit Larry is a pervert game! I'm not here to judge anyone, but with 7 replies no one has even thought to comment on a game where a lil' perv tries to pick up and shag chicks?

It is?
I always thought it was about 1970s men's fashion. |

Oh puh...that's why it's so funny. It is also the type of game I like, exploring, finding objects, figuring out how those objects work, talking to characters, etc. It has humor, puzzles, and sex...what more could I want? I'd shag me some LSL. :p Edit: my new tag line above! |

I have the latest game in the franchise for PS2 (LSL goes to College), but it lacks a lot of the charm of the earlier versions. Okay, except for the strap-on on the teddy bear and pissing on everything. |
loved that game.. never really got to finish playing it though.. been looking for a copy of grim fandango of late.. although I don't really care to spend as much as people are asking for it on e-bay... so I'll wait... and wait

LSL was one of my favorites game series
