The AMT

The Alternative Minimum Tax pisses me off. I don't know how many of you pay it, but I get hammered by it every year.

I pay him well enough to get me what deductions I can. It is an income based tax. There is no way around it.

elSicomoro 03-31-2007 11:44 PM

Stop making so much. :)

Income, Adjusted Gross Income to be exact, is a dependent variable.

There's no way around it? Damn, you give up easy. ;)

I think you need to re-read my first reply. This time with feeling.

If you are on here asking about end-runs to the AMT then you definitely need a new accountant since it is they who should be advising you how to escape the AMT instead of just delivering it as bad news over which neither of you has any control. BS.

I suggest you learn more about the AMT before you throw stones at my accountant. There is really very little I can do to avoid it. And no making less money is not an option.

Bush will kick your ass, you anti-American, unpatriotic, tax dodger wannabe.

The fact that anyone needs an accountant is the problem. Every dollar given to an accountant is no different than more taxes from your pocket as welfare to others who should otherwise be doing something productive.

Meanwhile, those who created the AMT have little idea of what is in tax laws, and do not do their own taxes. First law - all lawmakers must do their own taxes and be subject to a tax review. Guess how quickly the tax law will eliminate tax accountants.

Meanwhile, also spend money for tax software. Government made a deal with tax software companies. The government will not provide tax software. You are expected to pay another tax to tax software companies for their software, for submitting that tax form to the government, etc. because that was the deal offered to tax software companies.

Can that Adobe software 1040 form total up your entries? Yes. But government is not allowed to because of this deal to protect tax software companies.

Its not a conspiracy. What tw is referring to is called corruption.

BigV 04-06-2007 11:04 AM

Mercy, you are really starting to piss me off. I'll tell you why, since you're new around here. I've read your crap, and there's plenty of it, > 20 posts/day. At first I gave you the benefit of the doubt and I don't regret that because it gives me more confidence of my current position on your point-o-view. But the reason I'm getting more upset with you is because I feel I'm being forced to do something ... out of character for me. I may be ...forced to say something nice about... Urbane Guerrilla, and I am sure you have no idea how that galls me.

UG, who shares your in your face screw you style was at least literate. There. I said it. But, man, you're gonna have to step it up a notch to keep in the game here. Really. "lalalalalalalalalalalala" with your fingers in your ears, "neener neener ur a poopie head" just isn't going to cut it. You're out of your depth here, and somebody's gonna get hurt. Sure, it's all fun and games til somebody loses a spleen, but don't come crying "It's a Conspiracy!" to me.

Jay-sus.

tw's post is filled with truth (stop laughing, there is ample precedent for this). His opening sentence is completely correct. Our tax structure, taken as a whole is utterly opaque. That's a fundamental problem. It's such a problem that you have a need for an accountant, and even he's stumped.

On the other hand, if you're really that flush, what the hell are you cryin about anyway? Don't you like being defended against TERRORISTS! BOO!? Don't you like driving, scuse me, being chauffeured about on nice roads? Or do you believe those kinds of governmental infrastructural obligations should be billed to somebody else? Beestie's right. Get another accountant.

Shawnee123 04-06-2007 11:19 AM

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities states that because households with annual incomes above $200,000 are the source of more than half of all AMT revenue, more than half of the benefits of repeal would go to high-income households.

Oh my god I feel your pain. How in the fuck do you live like that? Let me just give you a big hug; maybe your substantial money woes won't seem so bad.:nadkick:

elSicomoro 04-06-2007 05:40 PM

Big, why don't you tell us how you really feel? :D

Are you on fucking drugs. Fuck off dude. Or in other words kiss my fucking ass. I just paid $2500 extra to the fucking goberment. What the fuck did you pay ass wipe????? oh, wait, let me guess, you got money back. If you ain't paying it you don't feel the pain now do ya????? kiss my ass. Ok, so your basic position is that because I make money I should pay for your freaking roads, well fuck off. I do not agree. Terrorism, Red Herrring, non-issue, move along.... You have to be a fucking idiot to think that the middle class, who end up paying most of the taxes, is some how not interested in decreasing that burden and putting it on the uber-rich, no? Fuck off cock sucker!

Oh, just so you know, I have had about 40 beers, lick my dick. :D

xoxoxoBruce 04-06-2007 10:49 PM

Neeener neeeener neeener,
ha ha ha on you.
you coughed $2500,
I got a refund too.

So fucking what? What has that got to do with a damn thing.
I got an $1800 refund, big fucking deal. What about the $17,000 they kept?
