Diamonds are forever, well maybe.

Everything you always wanted to know about the industry. Well if any of you have ever bought one, and for those who are going to buy one, you really should read this. Diamonds are not an investment. My only reason for posting this is to provide a public service. Spend your money carefully.

Hat's off to the diamond industry. To be able to take something that's neither rare nor precious and convince the world that they should buy and hold on to these sparkling rocks for a very high price is just remarkable. It's almost all marketing.

So.

This, along with some of the less than humanitarian treatment of groups of people by the DeBeers company is why my husband and I opted to *not* have a diamond as part of our wedding rings.

It may just be two people making a statement, but it's a start.

I've bought diamond blades for my saw, but never bought a diamond for my wife.

We never bought an engagement ring, but I do wear my grandmother's. It was a practical financial decision, not a political one.

I just thought I would share it, it is a good snapshot of how the system is controlled and manipulated through numerous ways. Anytime people talk about diamonds I like to try to get them to read this.

I asked my fiance not to choose a diamond ring when we decided to get engaged. Instead, he gave me a beautiful pearl ring. The suffering caused by the diamond industry is truly not worth it.

True, and the whole issue of "blood diamonds" is another issue all together.

I keep on telling people to sell their diamonds before artificial diamonds start flooding the market. But they ignored me at their peril.
