Ordering pizza

yeah, I know, real serious thread here, but --

I just called Pizza Hut up to attempt to order pizza. They have the best. But the young girl on the phone told me "the store is temporarily offline."

WTF? Offline?

I asked her, what does that mean? Do you want me to try back? She gave me a vague, very non-service oriented answer and just repeated that the store was "offline."

Which left me to wonder what her virtual reality was like. The store is Open--the stoves work, don't they? The phones work?

So . . . I ordered a pizza from another pizzapurveyor. Online. :)

does Virtual Pizza have any calories, I wonder?

huh. that was pretty easy. Paid online, tip too, so no fumbling with money or checks.

Came in exactly 30 minutes during Friday rush hour, too (such as it is here).

Maybe their pizza cook didn't show up...

She means they'd all been snorting coke.

I stopped by Wards last year and ordered 2 BBQ sands. OK drive around. The gals told me they didn't serve it in summer time. It's 40 degrees and I'd just had some a few days before. Translation. The boss ain't here so we're closing early and have put the shit up.

Once, we were told "The kitchen just exploded."
Apparently, there was some sort of fight between the grill guy and the fry cook...

At my former company, one of the (very, very, very, very rare) treats is a catered lunch for a departing employee.

The morning of my last day, my boss asked what I'd like to have; the office favorite seemed to be BBQ, so naturally I opted for that.

About 30 minutes before the food was scheduled to arrive, one of the assistants came over and said the restaurant called and said their ovens broke. No food. She asked if different BBQ place would be okay, and I agreed.

Five minutes later she came back over and said the second restaurant's kitchen had a fire that morning. No food. She tried a third: They were out of chicken (we had an unfortunately large number of non beef and pork eaters).

We had pizza instead. Must give kudos to the pizzeria: Under short notice, they cranked out 15 pies and had them to our office in like 40 minutes.

That's like saying McDonald's cheeseburgers are anything but horse-shit.

By offline, I assume they meant that the local pizza kitchen that serves your vicinity was somehow not electronically connected to the central ordering system into which your order is placed when you call in.

Either that, or they were all on coke, like it was said before.
