1 800 hijacked

Today I called a 800 number to ask questions about a product. Here at computer I have a cheap phone, bright chrome keys that I can't see well. So first time I get some BS about calling another number, waited and got please hang up. Thought I'd mis dialed. Called again. Ok, then I forgot at ask a question. Hit redial. Got something about calling 1 800 talk. WTF.
So I dialed number and got lady back. I asked her if anyone had told here about this happening. She yes. Have you reported it. Don't know.
Do you think that they know about it and using it to sell adds and to beat the don't call thing? New one on me. bb

Translation:

Today I called the customer service number on the back of a product to ask a question. Instead of a customer service representative, I got a recording telling me to dial a different 1-800 number. My phone is ugly and hard to use, so I thought maybe I misdialed. I tried again, and successfully connected to the person I was trying to call. We chatted about the product for awhile, and then I hung up, only to realize I hadn't asked the question I needed to ask! So I hit redial--and got the recording to call a different 1-800 number again. So now I know I didn't misdial after all, because this time I used the redial button! I tried the number a fourth time, and this time got the lady again. I asked her if she knew what the hell was up with her telephone number. She said, "Yeah, we know it's happening, but we haven't bothered to do anything about it."

I wonder why they would do such a thing. Maybe they are selling the phone number to other companies to use as random ad-space half the time? That would be odd.

Man, am I the only one who can understand his stories?

Awesome CF, thanks.

Thanks. I was hoping someone would understand. I've had this problem for years. Another board, a lady, from all places, Canada was the one to translate for me. Great job CF.

Get your eyes checked.

I thought Texas was either a Free Republic or the northermost state of Mexico. Now you're telling me it's part of Canada?!

This NAFTA thing has gone too far this time!

No, but I love the way you tell it.

I had the general gist before I read CF's amazing translation. I usually settle for the gist of what bb says. Thanks CF!

Rock on CF, nice job.

be-bop 06-06-2007 05:15 PM

Is it only ugly phones that are hard to use?
Will you get better calls from a more handsome Phone?
How do you rate ugly?
I'm confused now

xoxoxoBruce 06-06-2007 09:59 PM

Ugly, "likely to cause inconvenience or discomfort".
