Photo hosting questions

I've just been made aware that there are two different methods of including photos in your posts: as attachments and through photo hosting sites (thanks LabRat and glatt).

Does photo hosting reduce the load on the Cellar? Does it make for quicker page loading for those with dial-up?

Most important, is there a recommended hosting site?

I use picture trail just becuase I always have, BUT, I have had pics disappear from my posts for no apparent reason. It's frustrating, but not as frustrating as resizing for cellar hosting.

Photo hosting does reduce the load on the Cellar. It also allows larger pictures, which may slow down page loading for dial-up. It also allows more than two pictures per post.

I use flickr, but there are plenty of others. With flickr, you have to keep in mind that their terms of service require that the picture link back to its flickr page, so you click http://cellar.org/images/editor/insertimage.gif, paste the image URL, then select the picture and click http://cellar.org/images/editor/createlink.gif, and paste in the flickr image page URL.

Cool. I always wondered how you do that. The html tags they provide don't work, so I always stuck a link in the text. I'll have to try it your way.

i use photobucket, but if you wanna cheat...you can just right click the image you want, go to properties, and copy the address.

Yeah photobucket is a good one, I use it on most sites and just link to them in forums and on myspace, etc.
