Beer of the month club

Has anyone ever tried a beer or wine of the month club? This was suggested to me, and I notice on the Web there are several to choose from. Any experience?

There's a place in DFW called the Flying Saucer (walls covered with decoratve plates) and they have a beer club, if you drink one of every beer they have on tap (like 300) you get a personalized plate with your name and quotation on it, on the wall of fame. . . . . . . . . . . . . . (I'm not on it!)

If you find a good local microbrew pub they often have them. You buy into the club at some entry level price and get a personalized mug that they engrave with your name or give you a number or something. Each month you pay your dues and get to drink that beer of the month free and buy your beer at a discount. Very popular.

Some years ago I was in the club at a local bar and restaurant. They only had about 130 different beers from around the world, but I'd never heard of the majority of them at that point. As I recall, it was called the Passport Club, since they gave you a beer 'passport' to keep track of which beers you'd tried. After trying 100 beers they gave you a club T-shirt, but I simply enjoyed getting to try so many different styles of ales and lagers. The experience was fun and interesting, and I would recommend it.

I'm talking about sign-up-on-the-internet and they send you 12 bottles of different beers every month for a price.

Never heard of it. I think some states have laws against importing alkyhall in the mail. I know GA had one for wine.

My fav! Best served chilled when the weather turns cool.

The Man got his dad a year-long subscription to a beer-of-the-month club... can't recall the name of it, something with "dog" in it... regardless, he loves it. Every month he gets 4 different beers, 4 bottles of each, which is great because you can share it with others.

Great gift idea.

I do know that they allow wines to be shipped to NM from vineyards all over the United States...someone I worked with was part of a wine club, and boy was I jealous.....There are also gift baskets full of alcohol that are shipped on a regular basis. I think they regulate themselves before they sell to the wrong state....well....I'd hope...have fun...

I want to try to do it in a month. I wonder what 10 beers a day for a month would do to me.

I'm leaning toward the one with the "world beers."

. . . or maybe I'll be leaning after I drink all those world beers! I'll let you know if I join up.

You're too drunk when you belch, and the equal and opposite reaction makes you fall down.

Pennsylvania is one of the states that won't allow alcohol delivery via mail.

I have to actually leave the house to get beer.

bummer, dude!

I'm actually thinking of doing this. I like beer, but don't like to drink too much. I mean, it's not like I'm going through cases and cases of Bud Light, ya know? So, I think getting a sampling like this would be fun.
