Tony Wilson died today at the age of 57.

Father of Madchester and Northern soul, and the Hacienda. Founder of Factory Records.


One of the things I always liked about Tony Wilson, is that he never lost his love of the North. He was always on TV when I was growing up, on loads of those regional programmes, always making the North look cool. Everythin else was Southern, but thanks toTony, we had Madchester. We had Joy Division and The Happy Mondays, the Smiths and New Order, Stone Roses and Oasis. Madferit!
