China Penetrates U.S. Databases Govermant Makes A Rush To Stop Them

Chinese computer attackers have conducted an aggressive, non-stop campaign to penetrate key government and industry databases in the United States, according to a computer security specialist.

Disturbingly, the Chinese have succeeded, said Alan Paller, director of the SANS Institute, a computer security center. “They are already in and we have to find them.”

The hackers, he noted, are likely working for the People’s Liberation Army

Paller told SCMagazineUS.com. that evidence makes clear the Chinese government is behind the attacks, which he described as non-stop and well-financed efforts to breach key national security and industry databases.

The evidence includes keystroke logs of the attacks, which have been devoid of errors usually found in amateur hack attacks, the use of "spear phishing" to gain entry into computer networks and the massively repetitive nature of the assaults.

“This is not amateur hacking. They are going back to the same places 100 times a day, every day. This kind of an effort requires a massive amount of money and resources,” Paller said.

The U.S. government must monitor all Internet traffic to critical government and private-sector networks "to find the enemy within," he said.

Are you freaking kidding me? This is news? I'm pretty sure every halfwit 15 year old with a keyboard has taken a crack at US government databases. I'm certain every foreign power worth it's salt has fulltimers doing just that. Just like we have full timers that do nothing but tap into other governments' files.

In September, Germany's chancellor Angela Merkel "raised the issue during her visit to China's capital after the popular weekly Der Spiegel said networks at several government ministries, including Merkel's own office, had been infected with spyware planted by Chinese hackers."

Sigh, tell me when USSR or Iran, or Israel/Palestine are hacking. I'm sure that China had permission to hack from someone or somebody.

It's called spying. Everybody does it. It's even defined 2500 years ago in Art of War. America has 16 agencies to do same. If they broke into American computers, well, how many American English majors were doing the programming? After all, anybody can be a computer expert. If foreigners broke in, then more power to them who have better educated people.

God, why don't American spies work to undermine China's firewall and work to reduce the trade deficit in revenge, instead of crying about China hacking?
