Radiation Concentration

I've had two weeks of radiation therapy thus far.

It's fine. Only problem is that it is EVERY gawddamn day, Mon thru Fri. EVERY day. It's a bore. On mondays I also see the rad. oncologist who just looks at my boob and goes, "ok!"

Cancer sucks major. I encourage every one of you dwellars to make sure you NEVER go thru this.

PS--my hair is growing back. I now look like a completely devoted lesbian.

Can you do anything during? Read? Knit? Crosswords?

Be thankful you're well enough to bitch about this. ;)

Good luck, kid.
Don't let it get you down.

By the way, I hear Ellen Degeneres is available...
Just sayin'....:D

Do you have a testable radiation level when you leave a treatment session? Maybe you could have some fun by wandering around the closest port and setting off their geiger counters?

Sundae 05-17-2008 09:29 AM

You need a good book chick.
I'll see what I can do.
Or a good bonk.
Can't help there.

Lol!! Thanks Bri, I can remind myself not to go through that all I want, but I am sure it won't mean a damn thing, but wasted time.

I'm glad your hair is growing back, as you should be feeling more human by now then! Even if it is like a dikey one...who cares? Lesbians can be hot too...Just uuh...wear makeup and jewelry if it makes you feel any better!

All in all, you do sound better than you were for awhile. Your disparaging comments actually, are making me feel better about your situation.
:)

I'm disappointed I didn't have a chance to pour oil on that bald head, then rub it all over my... well, you get the picture.

Several years back I lost my aunt due to cancer. She was 55. As she was on her hospital bed hooked up to oxygen my uncle went to lay down beside her and passed away. Another aunt who was taking care of her woke my dying aunt up and said." Judy, Bill's gone. He's dead" My aunt said, "god damn you Bill"

It's not suppose to be a joke but I guess it could be. In a weird way I thought it might cheer you up. It's a true story by the way. I really miss my aunt so I am glad for every person who has fought this and won! You know they just might find a cure one of these days. :) I'm glad you're here bri.

"Hello, sailor... is that a geiger counter in your pocket?"

Trilby 05-18-2008 08:47 AM

thanks,sky.

I don't know if I have a testable level of rads. They did give me a card saying I was radioactive after my bone scan, though. I didn't do anything fun with it *regrets, regrets*

skysidhe 05-18-2008 02:41 PM

You could frame it? :)

oh I know.
Keep it mounted over your desk with something that says 'radiation survivor'. Make sure it's in a pink ribbon frame so people get it. ? Yeah that's just plain silly.

Shouldn't do, radiation isn't catching ( unless it's reallly heavy)
I had a tracer once, I could set off a hand held geiger counter at 30 ft for 3 days, no cards back then either.
Which is ironic since I am responsible for radiation protection at my workplace, and was the biggest exposure risk around, I should have given myself a few days off :smack: .

monster 05-19-2008 08:28 PM

Can't you just picture him and his cow orkers making music with geiger counters as they stand in a circle around him ....?
