Well I'll be damned!

Who ever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box? What a fantastic idea. Now, if someone would just make plastic wrap that didn’t stick to itself.

I’ve been using aluminum foil for more years than I care to remember. Great stuff, but sometimes it can be a pain. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll b! ack in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, Press here to lock end. Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can’t count the number of times the Saran warp roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.
I have a very old roll of Reynolds Aluminum Foil that doesn't have it, but all the newer boxes of plastic and aluminum do. Even store brands do.

I'm going to look as soon as I get home. Damn!

huh. it's true! you may be damned, but I'll be dipped in shit. (Being from Texas and all).

wow. Useful Tidbit of the Day. Where did you find this little gem, Bruce?

It's the little things, where you've turned your brain off after years and years of doing something the same way...

At age 40, I realized that my method of drying off after a shower was wrong. I had been drying myself bottom-up and wondering why I was still wet. It turns out, if you dry your hair before the rest of your body, it will not continue to drip water onto the rest of your body.

LOL @ UT dripping all over his bathroom!

xoxoxoBruce 05-25-2008 01:36 PM

Sure, haven't you seen those La Brea spiders, that write household hints, in tar webs?

Cloud 05-25-2008 01:40 PM

That happened to me yesterday wrapping up veggies for the grill.
:( The foil came straight out of the box and I thought, "why every time"?!? This shouldn't be such a tough negotiation, as I was avoiding cutting myself on the sharp edges, it came straight out of the box, again!

Thank god for this new invention! I am going to go fix it and lock it in place right now! Thanks Bruce!!!

Cloud 05-25-2008 02:23 PM

yep, that's what I said. Blame it on Bruce!

Sundae 05-25-2008 02:29 PM

Just checked.

NOPE!

Doesn't happen here.
I blame the gay mafia.

Cicero 05-25-2008 02:30 PM

Update: If you have already had the glue come apart and the side of your box is already opened at the edges (which is common when wrestling with this particular item), this will not work for you.

One side is locked and loaded, and the other side well, not so much.
:)

Scotch tape the bad end shut after you push the tab in?
