Clorox Lamp

Quote:

A man invented a lightbulb that uses no electricity or batteries which is made from empty plastic bottles filled with water and clorox. The Sun charges the particles creating a chemical reaction, making the bottle illuminate as strongly as a 60-watt electrical lightbulb. The light is bright white.

Very cool. There has to be a downside... doesn't there?

I'm very skeptical. I think it's a hoax.

I've had bleach and water mixed in plastic bottles and left outside, and it never glowed.

I'd like to watch the video, but I can't see it on either one of the computers at my desk.

It's in Italian. And the "bulbs" seem permanently installed, shoved halfway through the ceiling--so in theory the top is sticking out of the roof to gather the sunlight? But if it's sticking out like that, it would seem to be just a tiny skylight.

not at night????

Why don't swimming pools glow in the dark, then?

I'm guessing they are little skylights and the water acts as a lens of sorts to bring more light in. The clorox is probably to keep the water clear and oh so funk-free.

However I can attest to the warm and romantic glow thrown off by a pickle light, however brief.
