Air Assault!

I went to Air Assault School in 1992 when I was stationed at Ft. Campbell.

Hooah! We are an Air Assault BN, but are functioning here as general lift

Bah... piss-ant little helicopter. Get a Chinook! :lol:

Buddy-Ro you are right about the Chinook. Most folks don't realize that is the fastest helicopter we have.

It's a beautiful part of the world.

I work with a former Croatian refugee. She will always be a refugee because she has absorbed enough of our culture to feel awkward "at home" when she visits, but her roots and her early memories are there - a landscape that still exists, but a country/ way of life that doesn't.

She doesn't moan about it - she is happy with her life now. But sometimes, a turn of phrase reminds me what people leave behind.

I am so tied to this country. I do love it. I'd carry on elsewhere if I had to, but if I was forced out by any of the four horsemen I'd mourn for however long I had left.

I was told as a young Joe, "If you don't slip and slide on hydraulic fluid walking up the ramp of a Chinook, don't get on it. It ain't running right."

That ramp, (and it's tongue), is a complicated piece of machinery that takes untold abuse... needs lots of lubrication. :lol2:

Heh, I was told the same thing. If they don't have some leaking out on the ground, don't ride in it, it's out of oil. :D

The good thing is when we jumped out it made for a fast exit from 1400 feet.
