Babelquotes

Here's a new game to while away the icy winter.

Find a famous quote, enter it to Babel Fish, change it from English to the foreign language of your choice, then back to English (taking detours through other languages if you like). Post the results here, for others to guess what the original quote was.

So here are a few, via Chinese:

Quote 1: Asked that any your country possibly has not done for you. Rather asked that any you can do for yours country.

Quote 2: Before such many are never owed in person's conflict domain to that minority.

Quote 3: All questions 85% are may trace directly to the highest management.

Guess away, or post your own. Give them a number to help people keep track.

I have been marking essays written by international students. They are like this. Welcome to my world bwahahahahaha!

Quote 1 - got it
Quote 2 - yes, I recognize that one and checked to be sure
Quote 3 - :D and that one, too

And English to French, French to Greek, Greek to English:

we keep these truths for obvious in

And it must be fun to go on scavenger hunts for meaning in those essays. Enjoy!

English to French, French to Italian, Italian to English:

Mine milkshake door all the boys to the court. And they are like, is better of yours. Ruined right is better of yours. I could teach them that, but I would have to load.

Nothing you can't per year you in a place d'? installation of translation you waste!

Nothing like wasting your time on a translation site!

Pie 12-14-2008 05:07 PM

We hold these truths to be self-evident.

The compliable God, in the peace and the freedom of fear, and in the truth health, from the chastity and the foundation of our natural liquids we reign.
English>Dutch>French>Greek>English.

Almost holds up, but loses its humor.

UT's is

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard,
And they're like
It's better than yours,
Damn right it's better than yours,
I can teach you,
But I have to charge

Which reminded me of another thread where people changed the words but not the meaning in song lyrics where UT used the same song - it was hilarious but I can't find it. :(

I dress the clothes, if barely it is, I always supply that there is education by being unlimited.

Coherence is last criticism being lacking in imaginative power.

It passed, really there are people of 2 types of fascination: The people, and the people who do not know no matter what knows everything absolutely at all.
