Funny British Place Names
Ok, I admit that here in Pennsylvania, USA we have Intercourse, Bird in Hand, and Blue Ball. I still think the Brits went over the top.
Crapstone? Penistone? Wetwang? Crotch Crescent? I wouldn't mind visiting Titty Ho or Slutshole Lane, though.;) From here Quote:

It does sort of remind me of when Beaver College (now Arcadia) was an all-women's school. |
One of the rat lab profs at Arcadia keeps a taxidermed beaver on his desk, just in remembrance of the old days.
|
There was a place in Bolton called 'Nob End'
There was also a stately home called Sod Hall (said fast it sounds like sod all). My cousin lived in a village called Rawtenstall (pronounced rotten stall) My bus goes past a 'Cock Shott Lane' on the way to uni.... If any more come to mind I'll try to recall. |
yebbut we have a Felch Street here in Ann Arbor.....
I learned to downhill ski in Rawtenstall. After a fashion, anyway. |
How about Chorlton-cum-Hardy?
F'real. It's near Manchester Fagley and Lower Fagley Ramsbottom you know, it goes to show how brainwashed you can get... I'd never thought of penis - tone as that until now. Never occuured to me. Even in the article I read it as Pennis-ton. Never again.... |
It's not really pink, it's more of a penis tone...
|
These always crack me up:
Wallop and Wollop (between Salisbury and Winchester Puddletown, Affpuddle, Piddlehinton, Piddletrenthide (nr. Dorchester) |
Those Darrrrrrrrrrzzzzzzzzettttttt ones are fun! Not rude, but I found a Praze and Beeble in Cornwall ... (hallelujah!)
|
Villages near here are Hell, and Velvet Bottom which sounds, .... smoochy somehow. 'Ooooh you've such a velvet bottie'.
|
Those are good Rich.
|
I just remembered Booby's bay in Cornwall. lovely, undulating, golden, wet...
.......sand :D |
We have Dick Nob (in the Flinders Ranges) and Iron Nob in W.A.
|
Update: I noticed for the first time that Cock Shott Lane has a junction with Dick Lane.
|
Well fancy that!
It's not rude, but I have always been vastly amused by Blubberhouse (nr Leeds) since finding it on a map in my teens. I'm still smiling typing this. |
I know my first response upon reading of these people's plight really shouldn't have been to laugh at the placename, but I'm afraid it was.
