How come Netflix has the juice

to overcome my pop-up blocker? Remember when pop ups were ubiquitous and annoying? Until browsers built-in pop up blockers?

So, most everything gets caught in that, except . . . Netflix ads. They pop up anyway?

did the Netflix people bribe Bill Gates? Suck off the people at Mozilla? What?

ETA . . . okay, make that suck off Bill Gates and bribe the people at Mozilla!

Just put www.netflix.com into your popup blocker's banned field?

I doubt that the origin of the popup is netflix.com. It may well display an ad for Netflix, and it might be a legitimate ad, but your suggestion Els I think will miss. The ads are served by a different domain.

Also, it might not be an actual pop-up. If it's something that uses javascript and css you might get around them by turning off javascript... Sadly, a lot of sites don't work/look right without javascript turned on...

This oughta take care of it.

If you're using a decent browser like Firefox, you can use a Javascript blocker like NoScript. This will block all javascript code from automatically executing, which should stop even the most advanced pop-up advertising dead in its tracks.

Many websites rely on Javascript however for their own proper functioning, so with NoScript, you can enable it on a case-by-case basis. Mildly annoying at first, but once you've got all the sites you regularly visit "UnBlocked", there's little you have to do after that.

If you use Internet Explorer, well, that's you're problem. :p
