I Binged...now the Purge....

I've been lucky enough to be able to re-vamp my wardrobe (well, at my age re-VAMP is prolly not the right word...) and I've got gobs of clothes and shoes and purses and even jewelry that just isn't ME now. I'm getting rid of everything I haven't worn in one year.

it's going to be a job, but, man, it's starting to feel really good.

I did my kitchen cupboards over the weekend. The sheer amount of crap I've collected in just a few years is breathtaking. Wow. I'm liking down-sizing of this sort. It feels really fresh and free.

I so need to get rid of a ton of old clothes. I know I would feel so much better if I could get my closets in order. What a mess. I get home, look at it, and think "eh, it'll keep." I don't do it on my Day of Sloth, and Sundays are reserved for family and more slothage.

I'm going to use your enthusiasm as motivation. It does make you feel good to get rid of clutter, things you don't need or use anymore.

I really need to get back to doing this with books.

I'm overrun.

Books, I rarely get rid of. So I have boxes and boxes in my shed, boxes at the ex's garage, and shelves at the ex's house, of books.

Why? I don't know, I guess I still dream of the home library with the sliding ladder to reach the top shelves.

Spring cleaning. Yeah. I oughta just torch the whole house and start over.

Thank you Bri - I don't have PrincessOTR this weekend, and I was considering entertaining the notion of the idea of maybe starting to think about cleaning out my closet....you have convinced me. I will no longer be posting this thought in the procrastination thread...

How do you get rid of books?! I thought one had to keep building shelves until no more room is available...and then open a book shop.

my friends and I trade books on a regular basis. It's convenient for reduced storage like mine, and if I ever want to revisit one, I just call my friends!

I gave away 3 HUGE boxes of clothes last year. I need to give away more still, but I can't seem to part with a lot of the stuff I have left. Maybe I'll get to it after the summer...

I never get rid of books either, unless it's something I just don't care for. I do have a tendency to reread certain books periodically. I have tons and tons of books.

I gave 10 boxes to a thrift store, as well as dragging any number of them into work to try to trick cow orkers into adopting them.

Of course, the only books my cow orkers have taken without returning are the ones I actually want back.

Theives do not steal books. Friends steal books.

In a short, full, skirt.

If you can't face the closet full of clothes, how about pulling out one thing each night before bed. If you feel the same in the morning, out it goes.

Shawnee123 04-10-2009 12:05 PM

FUCK YOU BRUCE. YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND MY CLOSET.

Oh, you know, that's not a bad idea. ;) I could keep a big box there for Goodwill entries and throw one thing away at a time. The task might not seem so daunting then.

If you've got anything that's "not you" and "gently used" I'm a size 10. LOL

Shawnee123 04-10-2009 12:34 PM

omg...I have a ton of stuff. If I ever get my crap together I'll pick you out some nice wearz. :)
