D-Train and the Membranes
Come out and see my band this Saturday with our new awesome lead singer.
richlevy will speak to the quality or lack thereof. Ashton Tavern, 9041 Ashton Road, Philly We have an opening band doing a set at 8:30 and I guess we will go on about 10. |
I would love to see your band, but Google map says it's a nine-hour drive.
A webcam would be nice. :D |
Anyone who drives over 5 hours, I will buy you a beer.
No... TWO beers! |
OK three beers. But not a single beer more!
|
Ahhhh...next time give more notice. And wait until I get my new car. You'll be soooooooo sorry! :)
|
If I arrive on the greyhound after 4 days and no sleep, how many beers does that get me? :)
|
Two pitchers. OK THREE!
|
I'd be there in a flash in i could, but I have to be back in ann arbor by 6:30am sun, so it ain't happening :(
Have Fun! |
This event was a success
People love to watch me play bass at these things now. I have developed a very showy style, and the drunk people love to come up to me and say they dug it. About 15 different people came up to me and told me I rocked or how much they enjoyed watching me play. It's an ego boost when they do, but in the end, the thing that makes me feel satisfied is that I know I've genuinely entertained them. That is the purpose of the whole thing. When the gals come up and dance through the dance set, and the guys come up and make the  symbol during our harder set. It's not worth the $66. slice of the pie I get, which is not a great return for $1500 of gear and 10 hours of work involved, the exhausted drive home at 3:30 am. (It might be worth the $100 slice now that we've convinced the venue we're the real deal, we get paid more next booking.) I like to beat the crap out of my instrument. I slap it around, show it who's boss. And, after three hours of zoo and 10 hours of band work, I lost 4 pounds yesterday. |
So glad it went well!
I went out dancing last night with some friends, and while I was there, I kept thinking of your band and thinking how much I'd rather be there than boogying with a bunch of forty-somethings who, after a few drinks, think it's 1985 and they still look cool on the dance floor. FTR, I never looked cool on the dance floor, and time hasn't improved me. :) I much, much prefer watching live bands. |
UT...my ex used to say that: people don't realize how much work goes into the nights the band played vs what they actually made. I know how they were appreciated by the audience, so I can imagine your followers love you as well.
I hope to get to see you play someday! Glad it went well. |

That is really cool UT. Congrats on the show.

I was wondering how this went, awesome! Any chance J got some pics?? :D
|
Oh J doesn't generally go to these things, she doesn't like the bars and she's heard our set enough.
We did have a photographer there so we'll see what comes of it! |
