New Obsession

I'm an obsessive person. "NO!" I hear the collective YOU say.

Yes, tis true.

my latest obsession (no, not making a man with blonde hair and a tan - that's sheldon's gig) is Larimar - a blue stone found only in the Dominican Republic. I WAS on a lapis lazuli thing, but it's cooled between us since Larimar came along. It's even better than turquoise (it is, Flint, it really IS)

anyone else with a Stone Blue?

Shit, I was hoping it was me.

baby, you're my Right Obsession, you know that. It's just that you've so many other girls...LOOK at them all! I feel rather like the regular chip dip at the Emeril party.

Ha! I remember when I was a kid after I read Thomas Covenant, I developed a lifelong love of white gold.

I find it very difficult to imagine that you have obsessions Bri. *deadpan*

As a matter of fact, yes.

Ellensburg Blue, found only in Ellensburg, Washington, and environs. Every time I travel out there, I pay a little special attention to where I place my feet. I could easily find one while hiking. Just not yet.

I'm kind of partial to turquoise, myself.

My sister buys some larimar jewelry whenever she vacations there Bri. She bought me a ring, but I don't wear silver...
My favorite blue stone is aquamarine.

you don't wear silver, jinx? What do you like?

I wear pretty much only silver.

I should have guessed from the fast metabolism and strength. You're a werewolf.

I have a few pieces of jewelery with sapphires. They're blue of course although one is what's called a 'party' sapphire. It reflects more green and pink.

Ahhh....the stone is nice. I wouldn't mind having a piece of jewelry of it. I looked at a few sites for the jewelry. What I'm wondering is that does it come in high quality? What I mean is for example, turquoise comes in different qualities. The typical ones with affordable prices may come in textured. Whereas the high quality ones are pure blue and are normally smoothed out. Such as the one pictured below:

yeah, tulip, larimar does come in differing qualities. marahlago is the best dealer.

When I lived in LA I used to go to the gem shows in Santa Monica and buy beads at wholesale prices. There was this one man who sold stones that he called tiger opals. They are mostly dark blue with various opalescent colors. They are gorgeous, but I haven't been able to find any information about them since I moved away, so I don't know where to buy them anymore. The beads actually look like little worlds. They are so fucking cool. I still have some left, but I would really like to get my hands on some more.

I also love lapis lazuli. And turquoise. I prefer the rough turquoise with veins to the flawless beads in the photo posted by Tulip above.

Brianna, I have never heard of larimar. It looks like a beautiful stone. I really want to start beading and making jewelry again. Perhaps I will buy some and use it in a necklace. Thanks for the heads up. :)

Yellow gold only. I'm not big into jewelry to begin with though. I either wear it 24/7 or not at all.
