Sometimes my job depresses the hell out of me.

I love my job and the work we do here but some stories are just so sad to know.
I had received a donation today in memory of 2 people. Usually the donations are made separately for each person. I was curious about it so i did a Google search for both names. It turned out they were 2 friends, ages 11 and 12. They died together during a sleepover at one of the girls houses when the mother of one of them left her SUV running in the garage with the door closed because she couldn't turn the engine off and just left it on and went to bed.
Such a senseless and tragic thing to happen and my heart goes out to the family and friends of those girls.

Some people have no common sense. Such a waste.

How awful. My God, how wold you ever get your head around having done that?

classicman 06-11-2009 06:27 PM

How could someone do that in the first place?

Aliantha 06-11-2009 06:29 PM

How can you not turn an engine off anyway? That's the bit I don't get.

She was probably too busy chatting on her cell or drunk.

When deputies arrived, the vehicle was not running, the keys were on the counter and the tank was half full, Barbera said.
...Yeah, something else is going on here.

monster 06-11-2009 07:47 PM

Update:
Quote:

According to authorities now, the mother Loretta Wilson said she never left the car running over night and said that she had problems with the car in the past and that at other times she had turned off the car and heard noises or fans still going off.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office originally claimed that before being transported, Wilson told investigators she had pulled her SUV into the garage, closed the door, but could not turn off the vehicle.

The mistake was made in the news release from PBSO.

Investigators are still investigating CO poisoning.

This could this be one of those cars where you can pull the key straight out without turning it off.

Shawnee123 06-11-2009 08:04 PM

classicman 06-11-2009 08:05 PM
