The chart's not quite right. Some cable companies are going ahead and upgrading to digial as well, requiring some users to upgrade to a cable box instead of plugging the cable directly to the TV.

TheMercenary 06-12-2009 07:41 PM

I for one refuse to get a digial system under any circumstances.

I know it's not quite right.
But since my TV is out for some reason, I thought I'd post it. :D

It's Saturday morning, and I just scanned the new stations, and there are half a dozen of the old analog ones still broadcasting. wtf? I thought the deadline was 7 hours ago. Is the deadline tonight?

There are about a dozen new stations, which is neat, but they are in lanuages I don't understand. Sounds like dutch, chinese, and of course spanish.

Not much change for me. I'm picking up a channel from Indianapolis here in Dayton; that's new.

Well obviously you forgot to press 1 for English. :haha:

WHAT? My TV isn't working? What happened? Was there some kind of change? No one told me.

Oh yeah, I got cable. Never mind.

We still are getting five analog stations here. Strange.

My wife was just flipping past an analog channel and they announced the analog channel would remain on until July 13th, broadcasting that crap about the switch and also emergency weather alerts as they occur.

dar512 06-14-2009 08:55 PM

They're called night-light stations. They'll be on for a bit longer.

These are low power stations or translators. For example, some stations that serve less than 10,000 viewers are also considered important for the safety of those persons. Therefore these stations were granted extensions and (last I read) were considered targets of federal funds to help with the transition.

For further information - for everyone - enter your zip code in this web site: FCC engineering maps

Some stations were broadcasting on temporary frequencies before the transition. Once they turned off the analog transmitter, the digital transmitter was changed to that frequency. Then they discovered their digital transmissions did not work properly. These are the stations that no longer appear as clear as they did before 13 June. An ABC station in Philadelphia is one that is not being forthcoming about details of their mistake.
