I think its been a fairly succsessful first 6-7 months or as much as one could reasonably exprect.
With some significant legislative/regulatory achievements: * SCHIP reauthorization, extending health care to 3-4 million kids of working class families w/o insurance
* Credit card bill of rights legislation
* Pay equity legisation - giving women greater rights to pursue pay discrimation
* Public lands restoration legislation- protecting millions of new acres public lands by expanding nation parks system
* Economic stimulus program as promised with the economy no longer on the brink
* Health care reform - looking achievable by the end of the year
* Financial regulatory reform in the works
* Federal procurement reform in the works
* Ended the "mexico city" gag rule on NGO funding Not to mention overturning the worst of the last eight years: * An order to end enhanced interrogation (torture) of detainees
* A directive to make FOIA request more open and responsive
Yep... a pretty good first six-seven months. with some disappointments: * far more open and transparent than Bush, but more can be done
* overpromsied on the speediness of economic recovery
* Afhganistan - nuf said
