Step 2: large group of Anonymous forum participants determines that the story is bullshit before the major media can figure it out

Step 3: Anonymous uses great skill to determine asshat's residential address

Step 4: Anonymous orders them pizza.

If the parents weren't in on it, I can see if one kid said the other was in the balloon, they would accept it as fact.

Did the parents contact the media, or did the media hear it on the scanner? It got a lot of coverage.

I don't believe it was a publicity scam. And I don't think parents who've lost a child should have to pay for the police to help them look. Now they're searching the house. For what? extra cardboard boxes? Ridiculous.
