The Sober Thread

I had one of those stressful weeks which in days of old would have ended up disappearing much scotch. Instead, I fenced everybody at the club epeeists an foilists alike, blew off a ton of steam, and said, "No thank you." to the little voice. The holidays are coming, I've got to be on my game.

WooHoo WTG Griff!

classicman 11-21-2009 09:01 AM

Outstanding! The best part, to me, was the feeling the next few days - Knowing you beat it ... that little fucker!

Clodfobble 11-21-2009 10:03 AM

Good man, Griff. Stabbing people with swords is always a great release, even if there isn't any gushing blood. :)

Trilby 11-21-2009 10:10 AM

I applaud you. I'm going to stay off the stuff, too.

Griff 11-21-2009 10:45 AM

Thanks all!

Yay, Griff! That's great that you took out your sword, but not the bottle. The holidays are always treacheous. I'm spending Thanksgiving with a group of sober friends and Christmas with an AA friend and his wife. Here's to all of us! :thumb:

Congratulations to those who've managed to avoid being knocked off the wagon, what with these bumpy roads. But I warn you, it makes it much more difficult to tolerate me. :haha:

Good planning. I'll be doing the usual events which means trying to tell the same people over and over again no thanks hopefully in a way that doesn't come off as smug or preachy or pathetic.

Hopefully, it'd take worse than you B. :)

Good luck everyone, post strategies if you've got them.

If'n I had you Bruce, the alcofrolics wouldn't get a look in. There's only so much time in a day!

Yay Griff.
I hope to post in this thread about my conquered temptations in future, rather than sadly admitting my lapses in the other.

classicman 11-21-2009 09:48 PM

Post every day in this thread . . . Its a bunch of small accomplishments that always make the big ones possible.

There being many dwellars who are on the Wagon (I'm not one of you brave souls), I'm going to start a Weekly Wagon Roll-call thread. See you there in a few minutes.
