Anti-virus program

Should I use AVG or Symantec Anti-virus program? Which one do you prefer or is better? I want both anti-spyware and anti-virus protection.

AVG.

AVG Free, all the way

It's free!

And Symantec sucks.

Is AVG free good enough or should I buy it? There's a one-month free trial, don't know how much it cost though.

xoxoxoBruce 11-22-2009 10:36 PM

Free works very well, all the cool kids use it. :haha:

Tulip 11-22-2009 11:02 PM

Then why the frown, Bruce? :p Hihi.... free it is! Thanks! :D

xoxoxoBruce 11-22-2009 11:08 PM

That's not a frown, that be deep thought.
I like to use the free programs, then if I'm happy with it, go back and make a donation rather than being tied to a contract. That's the way I roll. :D

I've been using AVG Free for years and I've never had a virus. I *do* use some paid for spyware/browser exploit software, but that may be more out of my paranoia following a particularly nasty such problem a few years ago, and not because AVG can't do that job equally well.

You definitely do not need to pay for any antivirus software unless you think you need a bunch of other bells and whistles, and if you do...don't spend your money on Symantec.

Har. Norton 2010 found half a dozen things on my pc that AVG didn't. You get what you pay for.
