Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

I think I've told this story here before but for those of you just getting here:

My dad, (2nd Marines, Pacific theater WWII Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa, Mariana Islands, Aleutians, etc.) had a buddy from the Corps who had a December 7th tradition every year after the war. The guy would go to a Japanese restaurant and eat an enormous dinner of the most expensive food on the menu, drink as much expensive booze as he could hold and then beat the check.

It made sense to him.
