Got a calendar in the mail from some real estate chick, that had a bunch of other info on the backs of the months. I thought this one might be useful to somebody.

Thanks Bruce. I love this sort of thing.

I think this may have been posted already.
It amuses me.

That's really cool, Sky.
And informative, even for someone who grew up mostly with metric!
I'm bi-lingual - I know height in feet & inches, weight in stones and pounds and distance in miles.

But I know small measurements in metres & centimetres, temperature in celcius and liquid in litres & millilitres. Oh, except pints (Imperial, not the same as your pints)

Hang on, that's not bilingual, that's just fucked up.

Oh and soda cans are 330ml, not 350ml [/anal]
Beer cans on the Continent are also 330, but in the UK are 500!

How does 3L get to be a two-liter bottle?

Urbane Guerrilla 01-22-2010 01:00 PM

Either a liter's worth of thirst, or inattention.

skysidhe 01-22-2010 02:38 PM

Thanks SG. I liked it too. Good visual markers.

The author said it was a 'reference' point. Visual references and joke references not scientific obviously. Who has clocked a raptor on a hoverboard?
I know how big a field mouse is but I doubt anyone squeezed the blood out of one to find out.

Most people are smart enough to know a 2 liter bottle is just shy of 1 liter so I know 3 liters is a little larger than a 2 liter bottle.

Clodfobble 01-22-2010 05:35 PM

Come on, classic, obviously it's not scientific.

skysidhe 01-22-2010 07:18 PM

Whatever. There's about 4 liters of blood in the human body. I need a volunteer to make it scientific.

xoxoxoBruce 01-23-2010 02:15 AM

skysidhe 01-23-2010 08:18 AM

Bonus Question: How many field mice are needed to save skysidhe?

Juniper 01-24-2010 11:21 AM

s'OK. It's not Alzheimers, it's Halfheimers.

I've been looking for a place to put that joke all week.
