Am I the only person who dislikes the sound of James Taylor's voice?

It really grates on me. I find it annoying and whiny.

I enjoyed the folk-rock stuff that came out of the 70s, his music included. I've got a number of his old albums and listen to them from time to time. I can't speak to his later stuff.

Pico and ME 03-20-2010 01:29 AM

Yeah...he's whiny. He looks whiny too.

classicman 03-20-2010 06:13 AM

sorry to disagree - love his stuff.

TheMercenary 03-20-2010 07:12 AM

I grew up listening to his music. I think his early stuff was great.

He grates on my nerves too. Well, his many followers and finders do at any rate.

Pie 03-20-2010 04:05 PM

I can see why he would be annoying, but I like him.

Steve Winwood, on the other hand...

Tulip 03-20-2010 04:10 PM

I like him too. :)

No, you are not the only person who finds his voice to be annoyingly whiny.

And his subject matter ... when you're down and troubled and you need a helping hand ... take a couple of prozac and leave me the fuck alone, why don'tcha?

I always thought he looked like a schizophrenic, but I thought his music was nasal, whiny and annoying, even in the elevator.

He sang a Beatles song at the Emmys, I think, and I liked his voice.
