Yahoo crushing us like a bug
Well this has been interesting; for the last 2.5 hours I've been trying to figure out why Yahoo! Images Search has been repeatedly sending people to an IotD from 2005 showing the largest fish ever caught.
We're talking like over 5 requests per second for it. We're second on Yahoo for the term "largest fish ever caught", but that shouldn't drive that level of traffic. Hell we're 4th on Google Image Search for "cheerleaders", and that's just one word. Yahoo Images Search has generally generated one link per minute. The only way I could dissuade Yahoo! from breaking the Cellar was to totally deny any web requests for *anything* from yahoo.com -- not the ideal result, obviously. I will be trying to find someone at their engineering who can suggest what might be happening... |
I was wondering why it's been so sluggish today.
|
So that's why I couldn't get here. I thought it was alzheimer's, and I'd forgotten the way.
|
Problems here also. Boo to Yahoo.

Ya----- hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I see a story today on CNN about a Missouri fisherman setting a world record by catching a 130 lb catfish. Related searches?

Access to "Cllr.me" is still forbidden... at least to me.

UT's little program to shorten web links (at the bottom of the page)
|
It's fixed, see that's the problem with having all the web stuff on one box.
|
Thank you UT... it's a nice tool
