happy halloween!
my favourite holiday of the year, second only to christmas.
the history of halloween ghost stories carve a pumpkin! the legend of sleepy hollow by washington irving the raven by edgar allan poe snopes: halloween remember, dont cross the covered bridge alone after dark! ~james |
I can't quite get into it this year...probably if I were in better spirits, I might enjoy it more.
That's okay though, b/c Thanksgiving is less than a month away, and Rho and I are putting on a buffet at our Palatial Estate. Then, Xmas in Baltimore...and hopefully Dave, Jenni, Rho, and I can partake in pad gai...and I can get that crabcake dinner out of Hubris. :) |
i didnt get into it like last year. i didnt dress up or decorate as i usually do. but i really do love having the piss scared out of me, so im gonna watch a bunch of scary movies tonight. im priming myself for it by reading ghost stories while i should be working. even if you dont celebrate, i hope its a pleasant evening for you.

you know... this should probably be in another thread but... we should have a Cellar get-together.
It could be next summer, when Jen and Paul are in town... Jenni, Paul, myself and Jen will day-trip up to Philly. Tony's already there, sycamore and Rho... plus all of the other Philadelphians in the area. perth and his woman could fly out, Hubris could bring some guns up... we'd have a big fucking barbeque and a jolly old time. That would be some good stuffs. |
i would be down with taking a trip to philadelphia. i was already thinking about being on that side of the country anyways this coming summer (i have family in ohio).

All the neighborhood kids thought the house was haunted anyway, because it hadn't been occupied for five years. The house was huge and set way back on a 4 acre parcel, so it was pretty spooky just walking up to the house in the dark. We suited up my 6'3'' brother inside a real 8' Grizzly bear rug and sat him outside on the dimly lit porch. Just as the kids arrved, my brother would stand up and growl. A few parents nearly had heart attacks. Folks were falling down in fear. The kids were great. It scared them so much none of them told their buddies what we were up to, except that we were giving out great treats and that it was really worth the long walk down the driveway. What was your scariest Halloween experience? |

The Castle of Otranto by horace walpole. with this book walpole is considered by some to have invented gothic horror. :) ~james |
First things first Shepps...Krispy Kreme on Bustleton opens up next Thursday. You should come down here for donuts and coffee one weekend.
People keep mentioning GTGs, but they never seem to come together. We should do one though...hell, we should convince Jag to come up to Philadelphia so that his fear of every one with a gun can be dispelled. Then, we can all fight about Israel and beat each other senseless. ;) Hubris, the meal will be one of the best kinds...a free one. ;) We'll be in Baltimore for 6 days (Dec. 24-29)...I think. |
Hit me in private mail man, and we will work out the donutty plan.

Maybe MaggieL and I will arrange an All-Cellar Mason-Dixon Marksmanship event, open to all Dwellars. Winner gets final bragging rights for one year, and also gets to have the last word in any thread that involves the discussion of firearms or military ordnance! I'll bring my Desert Eagle. |

There have been other calls as well--last September, when NBN was in town (and we left poor Mitch out in the cold), and last April. Of course, the problem now is that there are less than a dozen of us regulars posting from the Philadelphia area. To do a "true" gathering would almost have to be a convention now--we'd have to rent a room at the Wyndham and buy up a whole block of hookers. Then we'd have to cause chaos on South Street and overturn a car. |

And...do you really want *one* room and a *block* of hookers? Or a block of rooms and one hooker? |
