Not yet.

I like the summertime view. It holds the promise of pleasant possibilities.

Hooooooooly Jeebus! They're freezing their Fargon asses off up there in La Crosse, WI!!!

I was feeling sorry for myself this morning in the cold. I'll stop now.

I wonder about the RealFeel® on that screenshot. For instance, our temp is 10 degrees with a wind chill factor (feels like) of minus 3.

How is the RealFeel® warmer than the actual temp? Are there warm winds blowing in?

Curiouser and curiouser.

Those aren't bullet points, they are minus signs.

negative 15 is less than negative 12.

Edit: Never mind. I just looked at the rest of the days. Yeah, that is weird. I don't get it either.

And the high today is Denver is supposed to be over 60°. Strange weather.

Heehhee.
At first I was like "HEY, I can read" then I was like "Oh. Yeah. You see it too."

;)

I wonder if this is going to be one of those things I notice and wish I hadn't because I'll never ever ever find out how it's possible. This thread will slowly die, and as no one will have an answer, I'll be left with a nagging feeling for the rest of my life. There will be a lot of tangential commentary, and subject-changing, but I shall writhe in the pain of not knowing.

No, I'm not obsessive. Not at ALL.

(Maybe there is a negative wind?)

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Well, in the summer, when it's humid, it feels warmer than when it's dry. Maybe that's true in the winter too (not sure how that's possible below freezing.) But if that's the case, maybe it's really humid and feels a little warmer.

Spexxvet 12-14-2010 09:24 AM

Maybe the sun factor? In the shade it'll be 11, but the sun will make it feel like 15?

Fargon
That is truly a chillin crib. Wasn't just a couple of years ago that you were on the verge of homelessness? What happened? Did I miss a report on your reversal of (mis)fortune?

Glatt and Shawnee
Repeat after me: When the weather's hot and sticky...
The reason it can feel warmer than the actual temp has to do with standing in the sun, no wind, and dry air. moisture in the air allows heat to move to cold more easily, the sun adds radiant heat, and no wind also slows the transfer of heat toward cold. Heat=you, cold=them.

The thing to remember is that heat moves toward cold, it doesn't rise. that is hot air that rises, heat moves in any direction. The greater the difference between the heat and the cold, the more the heat wants to move in that direction, imagine a ball on a hill, the steeper the hill the faster the ball rolls. The heat is the top of the hill and the cold is the bottom.

glatt 12-14-2010 09:33 AM

Yeah, OK, I buy that, but then the RealFeel only works if you happen to be standing in the sun.

With wind chill, the damn cold wind goes everywhere. Even if you step behind a building it blows around and gets you.
