I just thought I'd mention that Firefox sucks like a pail of leeches

That's all I really wanted to say.

Remove questionable extensions and restart.

Isn't that what the actress said to the bishop?

Usually use Chrome, but I don't like that it won't auto erase my pron surfing history at closing. A useful feature if you don't want people to know how long you have been on teh cellar. I also don't care for the way it handles auto fill features when it comes to checking my several email accounts. FF does this nicely by giving me a dropdown of all the accounts. Chrome doesn't do this.

Other than that, I really prefer chrome. FF, I have no extensions running, I have set it to auto erase all history at close and it hasn't been, even when I manually erased my history it still showed up after restarting and relaunching. Also it keeps allowing all kinds of pop-ups. It's gotten really craptastic.

F3 - try manually deleting the cookies once and then quit FF,
to see if it restores FF's appropriate behavior at closing.

I once got on a website that somehow put several "application-like" cookies or whatever,
that seemed to cause FF to go back to that site on startup.
The site was one of those "I'll fix your computer problem" scams,
and just visiting the first page of the site was enough to lock on to you.

Chrome has an incognito window mode foot. Doesn't keep any history or autofill.

FF has a 'Private Browsing' feature under "Tools".

Thanks for the incognito tip.
