Abercrombie &Fitch Representing 8 Year Old Women

This is so WTF? Designers and everyone who signed off on this should be fired. Padded/Push up Bikini tops for 8 year olds.

I wondered what kind of parent would buy that for his/her daughter - then I remembered the Kardashians, the Lohans, the Hiltons...

I know people who would do this. I kinda hate people.

And yet they are the same people who want their kids to believe in Santa and the Tooth Fairy until they get to high school.

I'm of the belief that you don't wear a bikini 'til you have boobs. Maybe these people agree with me but are impatient? Bikinis do look stupid on little girls.....

This is ridiculous, though. Can't we get Abercrombie et al for "grooming" or something?

This is the issue for me--little girls shouldn't be in two-piece swimsuits at all, in my opinion. One major reason being, since they don't have boobs to hold it in place, the top very frequently rides up and/or comes off entirely. I imagine, actually, that a padded top would stay in place better than the skinny strip of fabric that passes for a flat-chested two-piece swimsuit, and thus might in some ways be seen as more modest. But no, in my world getting to wear a two-piece swimsuit is a rite of passage that comes only after boobs arrive on the scene.

Right, stupid and not doing the job intended. Not that I care if undeveloped girls are flashing nipples (or in fact if anyone is). The only practical reason I can see is bathroom emergencies -lots faster in a two-piece.

But little girls do want to dress up like mommy. It's not that far removed from dress-up shoes with heels.... (playing devil's advocate) -they even imitate breast-feeding in role-play. they know they're gonna get boobs one day... How is this different? It's in public and there are pervs out there. That's how. I guess.

footfootfoot 03-27-2011 08:00 PM

the padded aspect would only constitute role play for girls with moms who wear padded bras.

monster 03-27-2011 08:18 PM

Not giving them boobs to look like mommy?

footfootfoot 03-27-2011 08:22 PM

or merkins?

The mere phrase "eight year old women" lets you know something is very wrong.

footfootfoot 03-28-2011 08:54 AM

very wrong

monster 03-28-2011 09:06 AM

indeed

infinite monkey 03-28-2011 09:13 AM

When I was 8 I still had Winnie the Pooh on my clothes. (I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere.)

I guess they think all little girls should look like Bratz dolls. It's pretty freaking sick and sad.

It's the Jonbenet Ramsey designer line. It's good for the economy, because it's creating jobs!
