Desperate Housewives

Mrs. Z borrowed season 1 from the library and she's loving it. I watched a few episodes with her, but found that I really can't stand it.

I can't remember the last time I disliked a show this much. Is it a gender thing - women love it and men hate it? Or is it just me.

I am a woman, last I checked. And I hate it.

I hated Sex and the City.

I hated Ghost.

Perhaps I'm not the woman to ask.

But all men love the Stooges, right? ;)

The few clips I've seen didn't do anything for me.

I watched about half a dozen episodes that first season. It was nice then, because it was the first new scripted TV that I'd seen in a while. Everything was reality crap back then. But it wasn't very good, and I stopped watching after a little while.

I can't recommend it.

I never took to it much. My bro and his family all love it though.

I was briefly intrigued by the presence of John Barrowman, but not enough to actually sit trhough an entire episode.

Never liked it at all. My Ex BF would watch it every week.

My Dad likes it. Don't get why.

And yes, I watched the bits JB was in.
They were out of context, but as I didn't rate the series, that was okay.

Tiny, tiny, spindly women, overdressed and with few visible means of support and pretending to be normal....?

My disbelief strained and stretched and snapped.
John Barrowman straight? Far easier, he's an actor. Teri Hatcher a normal size? A bridge roll too far.

I did see about half an episode quite recently that I liked. There was a mum with a normal (as I understand it) kid and another mother with her over-achieving kid and they were basically competing. The mother with the normal kid hadn;t pushed the girl into anything and she was acting like kids do. Not special, not a prodigy and laughing at fart jokes. She was also a normal kid size: bit of puppy fat. The Mom was basically being drawn into competing with the other parent, but didn;t actually seem to want her kid to be anything other than she was. Very much poking fun at the over-pushy parents moulding their uber-successful over-achieving kids.

I liked it. I liked the normal girl.

Other than that half episode I have only really seen a few bits here and there.
