HELP! HELP!
OK, Monster suggested that I check Craig's List for jobs, so I did not expecting much, and they have an opening for an Outdoor Researcher to camp and travel and take pix and notes of about 300 sites in SW Colorado. My dream job! So, I sent the guy an e-mail and now he wants me to suggest my best nature shot. Aaack! I don't know. Could those of you who viewed my pix tell me what YOUR fav was?
I surely would appreciate it! |
is this ad in the casual encounters section?

I like the third from the top in this series:
http://mail.cellar.org/showthread.ph...905#post748905 the second from the top is also nice, but crooked and composed badly. you should go back and do that one over. :) |
Did you post any pics of you au naturel?
I suggest one of the flower pix. the white flowers, maybe. And if you can send two, the third mountain pic. |
No au naturel pix. Sorry, Monster. I sent the pic of the close-up of that unusual flower. I sent the pic of "Red Mountain's Majesty," and now I'm so psyched I can't remember the third one. He said he didn't want to be overwhelmed with pix, so I let it go at that. I almost sent the tall aspen pic, but wasn't sure if it was overdone.
I did my best on the app. Now I just have to wait. The job pays $15.60/hr plus expenses. Sure beats the Bates. Well, if it was meant to be it will happen. If not, I just keep looking. |
good luck

The plot thickens
Well, this is an interesting twist. The guy (all him Joe) who posted about the job has e-mailed me to ask if I would consider working only for expenses the first couple of weeks until he can get a job that would allow him to pay people a regular wage. I would get a bonus in addition to back pay for work I'd already done.
On the one hand, I'm like whatever - I planned a big trip into the mountains in September, anyway; and if someone wants to pay my expenses that's fine with me. But there's a hell of lot of work to get done - 300 recreational sites have to be surveyed by the end of September, and for some reason, you can't work on weekends. That's 10 + sites a day or 5+ if Joe helps out - but if he does get a job, it will all fall to me and whomever he can hire at the last minute. I suspect that what Joe did was sign a contract with the Forest Service to survey how much use various spots get, if people like certain camping areas, etc. Those contracts can be fairly lucrative, but if you don't cross every t and dot every i, many times you don't get paid. So, I'm wondering since I'll be up there wandering around anyway, should I work with Joe and get some gas money and see if something better finally evolves? Or, since Joe obviously has some financial and organizational difficulties, should I just blow the dude off? |
If it doesn't fuck up the Bates motel gig and if you can afford to splash out on one week's expenses in case pay doesn't happen, I'd give it a shot. Alone, not with Joe. And make sure you are somewhere with cellphone signal and others know where you are.
How does he plan to pay your expenses? And which expenses are covered? |

I'd run. Good luck, though, Sam. |
I agree it sounds off, but it all depends on what you have to lose. But do not be alone with this person.
