Look what the boy can achieve with Lego.

A what???

The Antikythera Mechanism: http://bit.ly/fm4oFK is the oldest known scientific computer, built in Greece at around 100 BCE. Lost for 2000 years, it was recovered from a shipwreck in 1901. But not until a century later was its purpose understood: an astronomical clock that determines the positions of celestial bodies with extraordinary precision.

In 2010, we built a fully-functional replica out of Lego.

Amazing what people can do when they get creative and can use tools, apparently its been that way from year 100 minus forever. I gotta learn to weld. Pete does software for 3D imaging, so she was explaining the milling machine to me... friggin' nerd girl. :)

Now that I did share with Lego Boy.

thanks

Snow notwithstanding, Pete gets cooler by the minute.

Milling machine?
What you want is a Marvellous Mechanical Mouse Mill.

Holy Crap. That is awesome. Now we need a Lego Thread Gyroscope/Rudder combo to prevent thread drift.

Ha.

you can't prevent drift....you can only launch a thread

You know why you can't predict where a thread will go? Because you have no control when you use four casters.

... Now. If we had a fixed axle on the back end, some degree of control would be possible, but nooooooo...
